Julia Gillard was sworn in as Australia’s first female prime minister and first female leader of the Labor Party after Kevin Rudd stood aside instead of facing a leadership ballot.
Julia Gillard has pledged that an election will take place in the coming months as she has not been elected prime minister by the Australian people yet.
So what does all this mean for Wayne Swan? Well Wayne Swan will become deputy prime minister following an uncontested ballot. He will also stay on and keep his current position as treasurer.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbot claims Gillard’s victory as Prime Minister of Australia was due to the “warlords” and the “Labor Mafia”.
My view on it all is it doesn’t matter whether a male or female prime minister is in control of Australia, what matters is Labor and their “broken promises” and “extremely damaged policies”. Just think of the Australian Mining Tax for a start!!! Can Julia Gillard really turn this around? To be honest I don’t think Gillard will change the labor policy on the mining super tax. She said she would look into it, but hasn’t that been what Kevin Rudd has been doing with so many things lately? Just looking into it. Kevin Rudd and the labor party should have the new name of “Mirrors” or the Mirror Party because he / they are always just “looking into it”.
